Optional Excursions

Abu Simbel (by road) - £65
The temples of Abu Simbel are arguably the most remarkable of all Nubian antiquities. They were discovered in the early 19th century after being buried for centuries under a sea of sand in the 1960’s, as the waters of Lake Nasser threatened to engulf them, a 5-year UNESCO project cut them from the mountain relocating them to an artificial cliff high above their original position.  Please note this optional excursion departs in the early hours and aims to watch the sunrise at the temples of Abu Simbel.

Wadi Rum (Aqaba) - £42
Drive to Wadi Rum, where you will take a 4-wheel drive open-top jeep* through the desert. Carry on driving past majestic mountains, explore a gorge and see ancient rock drawings. Watch the sun set over the desert mountain scenery. After dark drive to a Bedouin camp for dinner and enjoy Bedouin singing and music around a camp fire. *Please be advised that the jeeps have no seatbelts and are not suitable for anyone with a bad back.
