A Royal Steamer Restored
A ‘Royal Invitation’ to sail on the ‘most luxurious steamship on the Nile’ formerly the property of King Farouk of Egypt
SS MISR
Some 63 metres in length and now fully restored as a 5-star deluxe propeller steam vessel comprising just 24 passenger cabins and suites. The spacious, fully air-conditioned environment, exquisitely decorated public rooms and a crew of 63 provide high level of service. Additional features include the positioning of the Marasem Restaurant, Saraya Lounge and Dahabia Bar on the higher decks enhancing one’s perspective while cruising. The period-style restaurant accommodates all guests at one sitting at window tables. There is also a lower sundeck with wicker chairs and an upper sundeck with sun beds and pool. Misr means ‘the Kingdom of Egypt’ and the décor reflects the fashion of the period with cabins decorated in styles linked both to the history of the vessel and Egypt: Ottoman, Empire, English, Art Deco and Louis XV. The original steam engines may be viewed and the vessel will normally travel under steam.
The air-conditioned outside cabins (including two single cabins) or suites are with balcony, private facilities, hairdryer, mini-bar and TV. The Upper deck suite accommodation is 50% larger in size than the regular cabins. Two suites (‘Panorama’) at the front of the vessel offer impressive panoramic views.
