A recent Sunday Times article declared that, political issues having been resolved, it was now time to return to Kenya for three good reasons: firstly visitor numbers having fallen by up to 85%, the country now needs tourism to support its people and its animals; secondly it is still an amazing country and currently not overburdened with visitors; thirdly substantially reduced tariffs are being offered creating some unrepeatable deals, not just for simple beach stays, but also special hotels and safari lodges.

We would like to play our part by offering to our regular travellers first option for an attractive tariff at two of Kenya’s best accommodations: Mara Bushtops is a small, luxury tented camp in the Masai Mara with its own waterhole and safari vehicles and Lamu House Hotel which has a special position in old Stone Town with its labyrinthine alleyways and traditional Arab architecture. The island of Lamu was a thriving port exporting timber, ivory, amber, spices and slaves.

Each year Kenya’s premier game reserve, the Masai Mara, plays host to the world’s greatest natural spectacle, the migration from the Serengeti. From July to October (according to the rains), the promise of rain and fresh life giving grass in the north brings more than one million wildebeest together as they pour across the border into the Mara.
