The reintroduction of Ryanair flights into the northerly city of Fez, combined with their Moroccan coast flights in the south, has provided us with a short window of time to present at a promotional tariff this varied programme with reduced travelling time.

Any student of history has surely wished to experience the way of life (but perhaps not the lack of modern comforts!) of earlier times. Disregarding the modern phenomenon of ‘theme parks’, travel to the remotest corners of the world seems the only way, yet just a few hours flight away lies Morocco where in the medieval medina of Fez little has changed since its founding over 1,000 years ago. Whilst Marrakech is now attracting more travellers, the traditional medina survives intact and this journey through the desert and Atlas Mountains reveals a Morocco largely unchanged by modernity. The desert and mountain areas contain many charming towns and landscapes and the journey culminates at a ‘hidden gem’, the walled town of Taroudant, once the capital of the Saadians and often known as a ‘mini-Marrakech’.
