Highlights of Bulgaria
Visiting Plovdiv, Bachkovo Monastery, Kazanlak, Tsarevets Hill, Arbanassi, Rila Monastery and the capital Sofia
Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow to Sofia and transfer to Plovdiv for a two night stay at the 4-star Trimontium Princess Hotel.
Day 2 Morning walking tour of the old city of Plovdiv including a visit to the Roman Theatre, Ethnographic Museum and St. Konstantine & Elena Church. Later drive to Bachkovo Monastery, the second largest monastery in Bulgaria.
Day 3 Full-day tour visiting Thracian Tomb in Kazanlak, the famous Rose Valley where Bulgarian rose oil is produced, Shipka Memorial Church and the Etara open-air museum. Two nights at the 4-star Hotel Yantra in Veliko Tarnovo.
Day 4 Full-day tour including a walk to the Tsarevets Hill and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Arbanassi village, to view Konstancalieva house.
Day 5 Travel to Sofia stopping at Troyan, to visit its monastery, and the small town of Koprivshtitsa. Three nights at the 5-star Hilton Hotel in Sofia.
Day 6 Full-day tour visiting Rila Monastery and Boyana Church.
Day 7 City tour of Sofia visiting Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Russian Church, St. George’s Rotunda and National History Museum. Optional dinner and folklore show – £20.
Day 8 Return flight.
