Turkish Meander
On the Aegean coast close to Ephesus including excursions to classical sites
Day 1 Fly from London Gatwick to Izmir and transfer to Kusadasi for seven nights at your chosen hotel.
Day 2 At leisure.
Day 3 A full-day tour to two UNESCO World Heritage sites. Follow the Meander river to Pamukkale, renowned for its travertine terraces and calcified waterfalls. Then visit the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis including the Necropolis, Triumphal Arch, City Gate, colonnaded street, theatre and remains of the old Roman Baths. Possibility of swimming in one bath.
Day 4 Day at leisure.
Day 5 A full-day visit to Ephesus whose well-preserved remains include the Roman Theatre and Baths of Emperor Constantine, the Arcadian Way, Roman Agora, Odeon and famed Library of Celsus. Visit the Ephesus museum with its statues of Artemis and the House of the Virgin Mary.
Day 6 At leisure.
Day 7 A full-day tour to ancient Hellenistic cities. In Priene, view the Artemis Temple, theatre, gymnasium and Hellenistic Stadium. In Miletus, view the city walls, theatre, Agora, Bouleiterion and Zeus Temple, Stadium, the famous harbour and Lion Statues. Nearby Didyma has the best-preserved temple of the Hellenistic period, the Apollo Temple.
Day 8 Travel to the airport for the return flight.
