Vietnam has emerged from the ravages of history as the East’s shining jewel, a country of rare beauty and rich culture. The ancient capital of Hue lies in a strategic position in the centre of the country and was home to the Nguyen Dynasty until 1945, their legacy apparent in its opulent palaces. South of Hue, on the country’s beautiful central coastline, is the former port of Hoi An, a rich architectural fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European influences dating back to the 16th century.
