Middle East

The first civilisations of the Middle East are among the oldest in the world. Alphabets, law codes, and cities all began here, as did the world's three great monotheistic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Nature too has been an ever-present force, shaping the jagged mountains, fertile plains and harsh deserts that form the backdrop to the region's rich cultural heritage.
