An expedition to Patagonia, an extended stay in Buenos Aires and a night in the jungle at Iguassu Falls reveal the spectacular diversity of South America's most sophisticated destination
Day 1 Fly overnight from London Gatwick to Buenos Aires via Madrid with Aerolineas Argentinas.
Day 2 Arrive early morning and transfer to the Hotel de las Americas for a three-night stay. An afternoon orientation tour takes in the city centre and the districts of San Telmo, La Boca, Palermo and Recoleta.
Day 3 Morning at leisure. This afternoon visit the Tigre Delta with its rivers, streams and numerous islands and enjoy a boat excursion along the many channels of the Parana Delta.
Day 4 Enjoy a day at leisure in Buenos Aires or take an optional excursion to the pampas for a demonstration of Gaucho arts and a traditional lunch at an estancia. Alternatively visit the fascinating weekend markets, fine museums and pleasant parks.
Day 5 Fly to Trelew and transfer to the Hotel Bahía Nueva in Puerto Madryn for a two-night stay. En route spend several hours exploring the Punta Tomba Nature Reserve, established to protect the world’s largest Magellanic penguin colony.
Day 6 Full-day tour of the Valdés Peninsula, a wildlife site featuring southern right whales, elephant seal and sea lion breeding grounds along with cormorant and oystercatcher nesting sites.
Day 7 Transfer to Trelew airport, fly to Calafate and then drive to the Hotel Michelangelo for a two-night stay.
Day 8 A full-day tour of the nearby Los Glaciares National Park explores its lakes, forests and mountains prior to culminating in a visit to the head of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Day 9 Transfer back to Calafate airport for a return flight to Buenos Aires and a further night at the Hotel de las Americas.
Day 10 Morning flight to Iguassu and transfer to the Sheraton Hotel for an overnight stay in close proximity to the Falls. Simply traverse the hotel’s tropical gardens to arrive at a number of walkways laid out over the waters of the Falls and spend the remainder of the day enjoying the views and the local flora and fauna.
Day 11 Drive to the Brazilian side of the Falls to explore its walkways and belvederes prior to transferring to the airport to take a return flight to Buenos Aires. Final night at Hotel de las Americas.
Day 12 Transfer to the airport to take an overnight return flight to London Gatwick via Madrid.
Day 13 Arrive London this morning.
