A diverse and delightful discovery of South Africa’s Western Cape, this tour covers breathtaking scenery from maritime views to mountain passes, visits historic towns and natural landmarks, and gives you a taste of the country, from fine wines to local cuisine. Multicultural Cape Town fills the gap between Table Mountain and the ocean, enjoying the beauty of Nature and adding to it in style along its Atlantic Seaboard. Highlights of the Cape Peninsula include Cape Point, marking the southwestern tip of the continent with its iconic lighthouse; Boulders Beach, where penguins bask on the rocks; and the country’s largest naval base at Simon’s Town. Karoo culture and the Cango Caves are explored enroute to inland Oudtshoorn, basking beneath the beautiful Swartberg mountains, and proudly proclaiming itself ‘the ostrich capital of the world’. The Garden Route town of Knysna is the gateway to coastal forests; historic Mossel Bay and the whale-watching shores of Hermanus are stops on the way to the Winelands; and, set at the hub of the vineyards, Franschhoek (‘French corner’) takes its name, and its winemaking wisdom, from the 17th-century Huguenots who settled here.
